Suits are back!

Was it Marlene Dietrich in the 1940s who started our long term relationship with the trouser suit? Honestly, I’m not sure where it all began, but I do know that you should wear your suit which ever way you like it ……

– masculine, feminine, with trousers or a dress or a skirt. Doesn’t matter which way as long as you have two pieces, you love them both and you are happy to mash it up a little.

Advice from London Fashion Week is to dress it down and mix it up – i.e. wear with a t-shirt or trainers or cowboy boots. It’s not quite the full on 1980s power dressing, but I’m certainly looking forward to a bit of extra tailoring. Take care to choose a fabric and cut that work well for your colouring and body shape.

“This isn’t the 1980s, so discount Melanie Griffith’s office look in Working Girl and think of the slightly off note of sneakers with a pencil skirt
