A GOOD FIGURE

In this age of information technology we are constantly bombarded with images of both male and female models. Only a very tiny proportion of human beings meet all of the body shape, scale & proportion criteria required by model agencies. In other words the images our subconscious minds are permanently subjected to create a false subconscious message of how a human body should look. In reality the vast majority of us do not look that way and never could. I think it is really important to understand the negative impact of all these model images.
Why do model agencies look for certain body types? This is quite simple – because they can wear almost anything and look good in it. This is also not true for the vast majority of people. Learning to celebrate and enjoy different body shapes, scales & proportions is crucial for mental health and well-being. As an Image Consultant I have a really diverse range of clients and I know that beauty comes in many different forms. The truth is that a good figure is more a matter of visual proportion and balance than of height and weight. Really understanding your own body allows you to value what you have.
