Autumn 2016 is in the air

As I write this we have suddenly had another unexpected heat wave so I’m actually not feeling very autumnal at all! The shops are totally autumn though and now is the time to think about your winter wardrobe.
Key trends for Autumn/Winter 2016 – velvet and then some more velvet. Think opulent and with attitude. Just as summer was all about bold florals, this winter is about brocade, damask and sheen. It’s still about experimenting and mixing it up. Try bell sleeves, choker necklaces, wedge heels.
Military uniform influences popular with lots of heavy gabardine and metallic buttons. We are also continuing to see the trend for ‘dressed up’ leisurewear like hoodies and track pants being increasingly seen as an evening wear option.
For most of my clients trends are something to keep an eye on rather than follow religiously. I advise picking one or two pieces that will work well into your existing wardrobe and keep you bang up to date.
