Yellow summer 2016 how to wear

Yellow summer 2016 how to wear

Yellow is a hot colour for summer 2016, but it is also a colour that many people are nervous of. Time and time again I come across clients who say I really can’t wear yellow. In reality most people can wear most colours!

Yellow comes in so many different shades. Not everyone will suit a bright acid yellow. Not everyone with suit a buttermilk or a marigold. I could go on and on!

If you are thinking of wearing yellow this season. Here are my top tips:

1. find a yellow that you can work into your existing colour capsule

Make sure that your yellow sits comfortably within your existing wardrobe and that you can combine your new purchase with plenty of items in your wardrobe.

1. follow the same guidelines as you would for any other colour

If you know that you suit pale muted colours choose buttermilk or vanilla. If you you suit warm bright colours choose marigold or sunflower. If you suit cool, dramatic colours choose acid lemon.

1. only buy 1 or 2 key pieces

As we all know fashion if fickle! It’s nice to have a couple of pieces in the wardrobe to give you a seasonal update. Only a real fashionista is likely to update their entire wardrobe each season. For the rest I recommend you limit your yellow to just one or two key pieces. It’s very likely that you will fall out of love with these far sooner than expected.

note: if you don’t have a colour capsule – come and see me we can work it out.
